Do you pray? Why? How? What has been your experience of prayer? What are your questions about prayer? What would you like us to pray for?
Prayer is a key element at Beacon Community Church and is a foundational priority for us this year as we listen to God and look to learn together, developing our experience and understanding of the power of prayer. In our gathered times, we make time and space to pray for one another, our community and wider world.
Why? because we believe and have experienced prayer changing things; in us and in others, in our depth of relationship with God, in our thinking and emotions, in our health, in our circumstances, in situations where we could not see a way forward, in our families, in our community.
How can you join in exploring prayer with us?
From 6pm on Friday 20th September through to 6pm on Sat 21st, we are holding a 24 hour prayer event in the town. Thanks to Captain Ian Arthur, we will be holding this in the Port Glasgow Salvation Army building on King St. There will be several prayer stations set up around the space that people can work round in their own time, with no pressure to join in with others or pray out loud etc. There is also an hourly theme for our prayer focus most of the 24 hours, as you can see below. During the day until 11pm on Friday 20th and from 6am on Saturday 21st, the space will be open to anyone to pop in, there will also be people signed up in advance to be there for the hours through the night.
This space and time is for as many people from across the town and area to be involved as possible. Could you consider signing up to be on the rota for one or more hours? Is there a topic you feel passionate about that you want to pray for? As you can see there are specific hours where we will focus on our youth and children, as well as some hours for outdoor prayer walking in the town.
You can sign up in advance for a time through our facebook page or just get in touch if you would like more details and to find out more.
Join with us as we seek God together through ‘Prayer in the Port’.
